About Us

Who is Faith United Church of God?

We are an open, multi-generational congregation affiliated with the faith tradition of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana). The Church of God (Anderson, IN) falls under the Wesleyan Holiness theology umbrella. As a church and a faith tradition, we are a dedicated group of believers who are committed to experiencing the work of God in our lives together. We strive for a mixture of contemporary and traditional music. We love the newer music but also embrace the rich theology and heritage of hymns. We’re also a smaller-sized congregation, with around 75 persons worshiping on an average Sunday.

Our Mission Statement is to love God, grow together in Christ, and serve others. This statement guides everything we do as a church.

Love God

The motivation for who we are as a congregation is driven by our love for God. When an expert in the law asked Jesus what is the greatest commandment in the law, Jesus responded in Matthew 22:35-38, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”

We love God through our corporate worship when we pray, sing, and study the Bible together. We love God in the way we serve others and when we tangibly give of our resources to support the work of the Kingdom of God in the world. We love God by faithfully living the call on our lives as Christians.

Grow Together in Christ

We believe that faith is a constant journey, one we are called to be on for a lifetime. We also believe that it is a journey that leads us to a desire to grow in our relationship with Christ. Paul writes these words in Ephesians 4:15-16 as a way to encourage that church to continue to grow in their faith: “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

We grow together in Christ through the study of the Bible and faith topics in Sunday school classes, Bible Studies, and in Sunday morning worship. We grow together in Christ through fellowship activities and in our relationships with one another. We grow together in Christ when we love and serve God together.

Serve Others

When we love God and grow together in Christ, we come together to serve others. Jesus said in Matthew 22:39, “And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Paul writes in Galatians 6:10, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Thus, we as Christ-followers are called to serve others.

We serve others by loving our neighbor as ourselves and doing good, as we have the opportunity, for all people. We serve others by praying as a community for the needs of others. We serve others by supporting our local food pantry and mentoring children at our local elementary school. We serve others by supporting local, national, and international organizations in their work to build the Kingdom of God.
